Who we are

Launched by the UN Secretary-General at the 2018 UN General Assembly, Generation Unlimited is a leading global Public-Private-Youth Partnership on a mission to skill and connect the world’s 1.8 billion young people to opportunities for employment, entrepreneurship and social impact. Anchored in UNICEF, the partnership brings together global organizations and leaders including Heads of State, CEOs, Heads of UN agencies, and civil society champions with young people to co-create and deliver innovative solutions on a global scale. In Egypt, Generation Unlimited was launched under the name of Shabab Balad in the World Youth Forum in Sharm El Sheikh under the auspices of the President of Egypt, His Excellency Abdel Fattah El-Sisi.  Shabab balad in Egypt operates through a high level governance structure (Advisory Board and Coalition) that includes the key stakeholders, representatives of Generation Unlimited; Government, private sector, youth and development partners. 

Shabab Balad Mission

Shabab Balad aspires to be the national sustainable platform for Public-Private-Youth-Partnersships (PPYP) working together to ensure that all youth in Egypt aged 10-24 are either enrolled in education or skilled for employability, have entrepreneurship opportunities or employed, or positively engaged in the society by year 2030.

Shabab Balad Statement

“By the year 2027, 13 million young people (46% of youth population) in Egypt are in secondary education, trained, decently employed, with entrepreneurship opportunity or positively engaged in their society.”

Shabab Balad Commitment

Shabab Balad is committed to transition young people in Egypt between the age from 10 to 24 (28 million representing 27% of Egypt’ Population) from the learning phase to the earning stage and ensure they are either in education, trained or skilled, have an entrepreneurship opportunity, in  decent jobs, with access to digital solutions or positively engaged in their society.
